It was hard to resist the call of getting use the language of both witchcraft and the military. Motherland: Fort Salem has some of the most interesting female characters on television right now. You understand why I couldn't not write it.

"A Witch's Blues"

for General Alder

Sarah Alder is incredibly morally grey but it's also clear that she struggles with the choices that she's made, even though she considers them necessary. But it's hard not to image that she doesn't sometimes want to say, "to hell with it all."

"Feathers and Bones"

for Raelle Collar

Raelle, the perpetual outsider, is acutely aware of how she's seen as "beneath" the cadets from High Atlantic families. But she is better served by hanging on to her outsider identity rather than try to fit in.

"Love's Hard Edge"

for Anacostia Quartermaine

A little snapshot of "Ma'amcostia" from Season One, before we get to see more of her inner conflict and capacity for empathy.
